Danny Darin, 92, of Centralia, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at Fireside Nursing Home in Centralia.

He was born February 5, 1928 in Central City, the son of Anthony “Pinky” Darin and Pearl (Amidei) Darin. He married Mary Gotta on May 7, 1955 at St. Mary Church in Centralia and she survives in Centralia.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, Mary Darin of Centralia, he is also survived by his son: Monsignor David Darin of Belleville; a sister: Antoinette DeBernardi and husband Robert of Centralia; sister-in-law: Josephine Cerny of Cobden, Illinois; a brother-in-law: John Gotta and wife Susan of Naperville, Illinois; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents: “Pinky” and Pearl Darin, a sister: Catherine Darin, father and mother-in-law: Domenico and Maria Gotta and a brother-in-law: Richard Cerny.

Danny served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the United Commercial Travelers, Centralia American Legion Post 446, and the Centralia V.F.W. Post 2055. Danny was the owner and operator of Pinky’s Restaurant in Central City from 1972 until his retirement in 1990.
