Dannie Lee Johnson, 67 of Centralia, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 at Crossroads Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Dannie was born November 13, 1947 in Centralia, son of Melvin Leroy Johnson and Kathleen Joyce (Dickinson) Johnson. He married Myra Lynn (Holzer) Johnson in 1968 and she survives in Centralia.

In addition to his wife of 46 years, he is also survived by a son, Scott Johnson and wife Tonia of Florence, Alabama; three grandsons: Logan Alexander Thomas Johnson of Centralia, Gaven Xavier Johnson of Irvington and Asher Orion Johnson of Florence, Alabama; a brother, Donald “Don” M. Johnson and wife Sandy of Irvington; three sisters: Ruth Ann Booth of Centralia, Angie Thompson, and Susan St. Peters and husband Stan of Centralia; several nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a mother-in-law: Minnie Holzer and a brother-in-law: Philip Holzer. Dannie served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked at NAL in Salem for 14 years. He was the President of Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 176, member of the Illinois State Council Vietnam Veterans of America POW/ MIA Committee, Past Treasurer of the American Legion Post 446 and was a Veterans 4th of July Parade Committeeman for the Veterans Committee in Centralia. He enjoyed fishing and working at BINGO at the Centralia American Legion. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, grandsons and friends.
