Mr. Burger died Sunday, January 14, 2018. He was born in Staunton, VA, the son of the late Daniel Warwick and Sue Stewart Burger. He graduated from Lexington High School and from Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in History. Mr. Burger worked for over thirty years for E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, both in the United States, where he was Vice President, Corporate Human Resources, and in Europe, where he was the President of the Europe, Middle East, Africa region. He was also a member of the leadership team that launched the DuPont Stainmaster carpet advertising and promotion campaign and was Assistant Plant Manager at DuPont in Camden in 1983-1984. Mr. Burger enjoyed restoring classic Mustang convertibles and listening to bluegrass music.

Mr. Burger is survived by Elizabeth B. Baule of Oakton, VA, Emily B. Reeder of Greenville, SC, Daniel W. Burger, III of Kiawah Island, SC and Andrew S. Burger of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Anna Womeldorf of Nashville, T; and former wife, Anne Burger.
