Mr. Daniel W. Hatfield Jr., 87, of Southbury passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Arlene (Grisgraber) Hatfield.
Mr. Hatfield was born October 16, 1924 in Huntington, Long Island, NY son of the late Daniel and Alice (Marz) Hatfield. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was retired for 20 years from The Platt Bros. & Co. in Waterbury where he was the shop foreman. He was a lifelong machinist and prided his precision work.
He played in the Southbury horseshoe league for many years. He also won the state horseshoe championship. He enjoyed duck pin bowling for many years after his retirement. He was a longtime resident of Southbury and a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Besides his wife, Arlene, of 62 years, he leaves a son, Stephen Hatfield and his wife, Linda of Barkhamsted, 2 daughters, Barbara Parmelee and her husband, George of Bethlehem and Kathy Corliss and her husband, Edward of Lewisburg, PA, his grandson, Christopher Corliss and his wife, Ellie of Chambersburg, PA, his granddaughter Tiffani Bogart and her husband, Kyle of Milton, PA, 3 sisters, Mary Brezak of Middlebury, Helen Hatfield of Woodbury and Ruth Turcotte of West Haven and many nieces and nephews.
