Daniel R. Splain, Jr., 12, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born November 8, 1998 in Danville, he was a son of Daniel R. “Rusty” Splain, Sr. and Amber (Rhone) Splain.

Daniel was a fun loving kid, who loved life, and was always the first to make a joke or tell a story. He loved trucking with his Grandpa, was a Green Bay Packer fan, and loved NASCAR, especially his favorite driver Tony Stewart, who he met through the Make-a-Wish Foundation, last September, when he went to North Carolina for the thrill of his life, to be greeted by Tony Stewart and watch a NASCAR race. He wrestled for Williamsport, bowled at Faxon Lanes, and played baseball at Newberry Little League.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his five siblings Makenna, Ben, Dade, Isabella, and Kooper, maternal grandparents Peggy and Bill Thompson of Cogan Station, paternal grandparents Jackie and Ron Wertman of Trout Run, maternal great grandparents Shirley and Bobby Cunningham of Cogan Station and Vern and Betty Rhone of Trout Run, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Gerald Splain, Sr.
