Daniel R. Farley, 67, of Peru, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria after an extended illness. Daniel was born February 6, 1949 in Chicago to Dr. William James and Cecilia Marie (Hohl) Farley. He married Janet Vickery on February 7, 1991. He was a proud step-father of Cepheus Ceph Edmondson. Daniel attended St. Bede Academy and graduated from LaSalle-Peru Township High School in 1967.

In his early years, he was an avid athlete excelling in football, rugby, speed roller skating at Skaters Junction and champion bowling for Pla-Mor Lanes in LaSalle. Daniel was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969 and saw a two year tour of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1971. He was an original founder, owner and operator of the 9th Street Pub in LaSalle, then lived for several years in Stockbridge, Mass. working as a landscape mason before returning to Peru to open Docs Tavern in 1990.

Dan later worked as a meat inspector for the state and federal government. Survivors include his wife, Janet; step-son, Cepheus Ceph Edmondson of Chicago; two sisters, Sue (Steve) Farley-Turner of Lenox, MA and Katie (Wayne) Farley of Seattle, WA; four brothers, William Farley Jr. and Thomas Farley both of Stockbridge, MA, Michael (Regina) Farley of Poplar Grove and James (Thomas) Farley of Provincetown, MA; one sister-in-law, Carole (Jerry) McDaniel of London, KY; three brothers-in-law, Hollis Vickery and Craig (Laura) Vickery both of LaSalle and Earl (Mary) Vickery of Lakemoor and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Patty Farley.
