Daniel Lee Thielbert, 64, of Galesburg, died at 4:37 p.m., Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Marigold Health Care, Galesburg. Dan was born May 8, 1950 in Galesburg the son of Ralph C. and Lucille H. Filich Thielbert. Dan is survived by his mother, Lucille of Galesburg; two brothers, Donald and David (Terri) both of Galesburg; two sisters, Rebecca Crumm and Diana (Paul) Long both of Galesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Daniel Dean.
Dan graduated from Galesburg High School and attended Quincy College. He then went on to join the US Marine Corp where he achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. While serving in the Marine Corp, Dan worked as an air traffic controller, after being discharged he continued on the same career path, working as an air traffic controller for many years in California, Nevada, Columbus, OH, Fort Dodge, IA and St. Louis, MO until he was diagnosed with MS in 1989 at which time he returned to Galesburg.In his early years, Dan enjoyed dancing and the theater and was active in Prairie Players. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg.
