Daniel E. Mitchell, 36, of Cranston, RI, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, August 10, 2023.
He was the beloved husband of Theresa “Tess” (Grenier) Mitchell. Dan and Theresa had been married for eight years.
Born in Providence, the only son of Maryann (Cartwright) LaCascio of Lincoln, and the late Edward F. Mitchell of Lincoln, he had lived most of his life in Lincoln and Cranston.
Dan attended Lincoln High School, and received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rhode Island College.
Dan was a gentle giant (at 6’6″) and an old soul. He was particularly known for his booming voice, infectious laugh, and sense of humor that ranged from respectfully irreverent to “Dad jokes” (the latter of which he was most fond of). He was an endless source of support, comfort and laughter, and touched so many lives without even knowing, simply by being himself.
The most important things to Dan were always his family, friends, music, and the love of God and his country.
Dan is survived by his wife and their four sons, Jack Mitchell, Bennett Mitchell, Wyatt Mitchell and Owen Mitchell; his mother and stepfather (Joe LaCascio of Lincoln, RI); many aunts, uncles, and cousins from Rhode Island, Florida, and Nebraska; and innumerous friends whom he considered family.
