Muncie-Daniel “Danny” H. Long, 74, went to home to be with his Lord early Monday morning, June 27, 2011, following an extended illness. He was born on June 26, 1937 at Eaton, Indiana the son of, Henry Albert Long and ICA (Graham) Stout. He married the love of his life Phyllis (Rainey) Long on June 1, 1957 in her parent’s home in Muncie.
Mr. Long had worked as a laborer in the Local 1112 Construction Union for over 20 years retiring in 1987.
Besides his wife of 53 years Phyllis, he is survived by four daughters, Cheryl Holten (husband-Rev. Jerry), Dunkirk, Jackie Dysert (husband-Bobby), Muncie, Penny Fortson (husband-Ronald) and Brenda Carter (fiancé-Juan Mercado) both of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one sister, Blanche Tucker, Ohio; two brothers, Albert Paul “Buck” Long (wife-Mary) and William “Bill” Long (wife-Anna) both of Muncie; Step mother, Myrtle I. Long, Muncie; two step brothers, Rev. Robert Holten (wife-Ann), Melbourn, Florida and Rev. Carl Holten, Muncie; mother-in-law, Bernice Rainey, Muncie
He is preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Lester Rainey Sr.; his favorite pet dog “Peanut”.
