Daniel (Dan) Kelly, 78 of Toms River went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 17, 2014, unexpectedly, yet peacefully at home. Albeit much too soon, it seems a fitting tribute for such a fine Irishman, to have been called back to Heaven on St. Patrick’s Day. Born in New York City, he resided in the Bronx where he married and began his family.

His family moved and lived in Warwick, NY for 20 years until moving with his wife to New Jersey in 1991. In 2004, Dan and his wife settled in Toms River He retired from a commendable career in the New York City Department of Sanitation and left as District Superintendent in March of 1991. He was a faithful communicant of St. Maximillian Kolbe Church, Toms River, He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed attending Irish Festivals, reading about history, watching cooking shows, walking in the pool and appreciated the beauty of a lighthouse, as well as a warm cup of tea. Above all else, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his children’s children, a true. Irish Blessing.

He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Mary, four sisters, and two brothers and his daughter Debbie. Surviving is his beloved wife Elizabeth Fash of 53 years. His four children Katherine, Daniel, Eileen and Chip, and Colin and his wife Kerry.

He was affectionately known as Pop-pop to his grandchildren Christopher and his wife Jennifer, Michael, Erin, Brianna, Maureen, Ben, Raine, Daniel and Brian. He is also survived his younger brother Colin and many nieces and nephews. With heavy hearts we say goodbye to a special man. His Irish eyes will be smiling down upon us, until we meet again.
