Daniel “Dan” Addison McNeill, Jr., age 79, joined his parents D. Add and Teresa (Bingham) McNeill on October 23, 2021 at home with his family.
Dan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Karen (Burgess) McNeill; his children, daughter Dani and husband David Martin, daughter Debi McNeill, and son D. Adam and wife Sarah (Chapman) McNeill; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Kory, Bekka, Dallas, Kaila, Megan, and Annabelle; seven great-grandchildren, Dixie, Colin, Wyatt, Adelyn, Atticus, Charlotte, and Kennedy. He is also survived by his four sisters, Pat (David) Gardner, Phyllis Borger, Jacque Reeves, and Susan (Dale) Burke, and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Waynesville (N.C.) High School, Dan served in the Navy where he was an electronic technician and served his time at sea on aircraft carriers.
Dan was a square dancer for many years. He coached his girls’ softball team and played himself till he was 60, with his grown kids.
He wore many hats during work years, the last of which was supervisor of 21 apartment complexes for 19 years.
