Daniel Chavez, 77, entered eternal rest to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday evening, October 21, 2017 at Veranda Nursing Home in Harlingen, Texas. At the time of his passing, Danny was surrounded by his loving family and his beloved wife, Gloria, who never left his side.
“I saw you die, but all I could do was sit close by. You went away, we had to part, God eased your pain but broke my heart”.
Danny was born in Harlingen, Texas on July 11, 1940 to Manuel Chavez & Elida Gomez Chavez.
He was a lifetime resident of Harlingen-San Benito and graduated from Harlingen High School and T.S.T.C. He completed his basic training with the United States Army and then was with the army reserves for 10 years. Danny was employed for 33 years with the Texas Sate Hospital as a supervisor.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel, Elida, and Maria P. Chavez; along with his siblings, Emo and Janie Chavez.
Danny is survived by his loving family to cherish his beautiful memory, his devoted wife, Gloria Weaver Chavez; daughter, Brenda (Eddie) Reyes; his granddaughter, pride & joy Talitha Reyes; 3 grandsons, Joshua, Eddie, & Abdias; 4 brothers & 7 sisters; numerous beloved nieces & nephews.
