Those left to honor Dan’s memory are his wife, Lela of Newton; son, Patrick Murphy of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his 2 daughters, Paula Moore of Newton and Peggy D. (Fred) Sellers of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Jason Moore, Michelle (Ken) Nepple, Rochelle Sellers, and Craig Sellers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothrs, Myron, Fred, and Orville Murphy; and his 2 sisters, Helen Louise Jensma and Louise Stoddard.
Dan served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He graduated from Newton High School in 1936 and farmed until 1974. Dan then worked at Newton Manufacturing, retiring in 1983.
