Daniel “Danny” Blinn, age 56, of Rome, passed away peacefully September 14, 2013, at home with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born July 1, 1957, in Constableville, NY, a son of Claude E. and Joan Scheve Blinn, and educated in Rome schools. He worked as a Plant Utilities Engineer at the Mohawk Correctional Facility.

Danny was a person who could build or fix anything. He was a talented small engine repairman who enjoyed “souping up” and racing lawn tractors. He was an avid NASCAR fan and outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Waterville Rod and Gun Club.

Danny is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Amanda and Andrew Sandstrom of Rome, and Tonya and Shawn Clarkson of Rome; a grandson, Zachary Daniel Sandstrom of Rome; fiancée, Lori Hammon and her grandchildren, Caitlin Gawarecki and Brooke Boyea; stepfather, John “Jack” Pelton of Rome; sisters, Karen and Bob Kent of Rome, Kathy Blinn of San Jose, CA, and Bonnie Blinn and Rusty Secor of Rome; a brother, Mike Blinn of West Winfield; special friends, Lyle Curtis and Butch Hammon; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Brownie and Toby.

The family wishes to sincerely thank Hospice and Palliative Care and the Lee Center Volunteer Fire Department, for their care and compassion extended to Danny during his illness.
