Daniel Bland Marshall, Jr. was born October 25, 1934, in Jasper, Texas, to Daniel B. Marshall Sr. and Marzella Marshall. Affectionately known to family and friends as “Buck” or “Marshall,” he graduated from J.H. Rowe High School where he was involved in track and field. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1958, stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO, where he received an Honorable Discharge.
Daniel was joined in holy matrimony to Martha Ann (Emma Jewel) Marshall on February 22, 1963. There were three children born to this union: Duane, Derwin, and Dexter.
Daniel was dedicated and dependable in his work career as he provided for his family. He had a very stable career at Butternut Bread Company for over 20 years as a Loader and became highly respected among his peers, helping him get elected as the Union Shop Steward until he retired from the company in the early ’80s. Also, during this time, Daniel also obtained a second career-that he held for many years-driving a taxi for Ritz Cab (which later became known as Metro Taxi) from the 1960s to the early 2000s.
