Daniel A. Baert, age 89, of St. Charles, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva with his loving family by his side.

He was born May 25, 1932, in Campton Township, the son of Theophil and Mary (Pollentier) Baert, Sr.

Dan farmed all of his working life, beginning as a child on the family farm west of St. Charles.  He graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic School and then St. Charles Community High School in 1950.  He spent two years in the U. S. Army, returning home to resume farming, working with his brothers, forming a custom farming business.  He married and raised a family of three children.  Dan was a quiet, humble and loyal man, who loved his family and community.  He took pride in his work, was blessed with an analytical mind and found joy in using his mechanical and inventive talents to solve problems, ranging from large, complex farm equipment to ordinary, everyday problems.  Dan was the go-to fix-it man who was always willing to help.  A good man.

He is survived by his wife Carol (Norrstrom); children Mary Morrissette of Yorkville, Mark (Keri Lynn) of California, and Bonnie Baert of Mahomet; grandchildren Rachel (Joseph) Finn, Joshua and Kaitlyn Rose Baert, and D.J. and Miranda Hogan, great grandchildren Joseph Schiavo and Riley, Brianna, and Caleb Finn; brother Phil of St. Charles; Carol’s children Diane (Mark) Cushing of Seattle and Jeffrey (Lisa) McAllister of Texas; Carol’s grandchildren Christopher, Greg, and Megan McAllister; and many dear nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Louise VanBogart, brothers Robert, Joseph, and Frank, and his first wife Marjorie (Stroberg).
