Daneen (Dee) Elliott, former resident of Grand Ledge, age 73, died Friday, April 1st in her Kalamazoo home. Born in Owosso on March 2, 1943, Dee graduated from Byron High School. Not long after graduating, she met and married Alfred James (Jim) Elliott, Jr. on October 29, 1965. Together the two ran a successful interior decorating business for 20 years. Surprised later in life by their only child, Dee became a stay-at-home mother to daughter Katie.
Dee and Jim welcomed their first grandchild, Claire, in September and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October of last year. Dee loved cooking and baking, gardening, reading a good book, drinking a good cup of coffee, and spending time with loved ones. Described by many as the “nicest person they know,” Dee was a selfless, kind, and caring wife, mother, sister, and friend to many.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Katie Krauss (Carl Krauss) and granddaughter, Claire Krauss of Seattle; sisters, Bernadette Fabian (John Fabian) of Dewitt and Gloria Leavitt (Gerry Edwards) of Lansing. She was preceded by her father, William Eva, mother, Glenellen Eva; and sisters, Ann Brooks and Carolyn Rust.
