Dana Edward Manthorn passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, June 8, at Boston Medical Center.
Dana will forever be remembered for his infectious smile and laugh, his love of music, coffee, and animals, and his deep devotion to his family and friends. As a union carpenter, Dana took pride in his ability to create and build. He also happily took on new projects around the house as long as he got to use expensive and fancy tools!
Dana was born on May 5, 1983, to Linda (Pendleton) (Manthorn) Belben and the late Edward Osgood Manthorn, Jr, and resided in Middleton most of his life. In addition to his mother and step-father, Bruce Belben, Dana is survived by his two children Austin Edward (28 months) and Aiden Alex (11 months), his fiancé Jessica Berry of Dracut, his younger sister Tracie Varela and her husband Kevin of Middleton, his older sister Alana Silverman, her husband AJ, and his nieces McKenna and Morgan of New York.
Addiction stories are difficult to talk about, but Dana’s story is one more that needs to be shared. Addiction does not discriminate, and although he was an addict to some, he was so much more than that to countless others. A father, son, brother, fiancé, friend, confidant; the list is extensive. He was so full of life at times and so empty at others, but the day he became a father was the happiest day of his life. His smile was wider and brighter than we had ever seen it after Austin was born, and the two became the best of friends. His two boys were the light of his life and filled a void he never knew he had. Dana was a friend to all he met, and we will be forever grateful to all the healthcare workers, first-responders, friends, and family who supported him through his life.
