Dan Way was a unique individual that touched lives around him in ways that will never be forgotten.
First and foremost, Dan loved his family. Everything he was and did was for his wife of 21 years, Karin, and their three children, Yale, Mabon and Patience. He was the rock and foundation of their family and they were his heart and soul. He will also be missed in the hearts of his mother and father, Mary and Rich Bates. They grew closer in later years often coming together for his phenomenal Chicken Marsala or amazing Thanksgiving turkey feasts.
Dan’s second love was to the United States Marine Corps.
Dan’s final passion was found later in his life. His father-in-law, Bob, urged him to return to school and finally he did. After receiving his Associates Degree from PPCC, Dan transferred to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs where his love of learning truly exploded. He was an honor student and on the Dean’s List. He was starting his senior year and was only a few classes away from earning a double major in Anthropology and Philosophy. He was looking forward to a future of continuing to learn and teach others.
Dan will be missed tremendously by his family and friends but has now found the peace he sought throughout his life. Semper Fi Marine. We love you.
