Dan Sdrulla, 46, of Castle Rock, CO, passed away on February 2, 2022. He was born on July 1, 1975 in Bucharest, Romania, to Dumitru and Violeta Sdrulla. He moved to Bend, Oregon in 1992, and graduated from Mountain View High School a year later. He received his BS and MS in Biological Sciences from Stanford University in 1998. He obtained combined MD and PhD degrees from the University of Colorado Medical School; the focus of his PhD was on the neurophysiology of hippocampal seizures, with direct translational implications for the treatment of epilepsy in children.

Dan underwent residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. He then completed a fellowship in Neuro-Otology and Skull Base Surgery at the Michigan Ear Institute. From 2014 until 2020, he worked as a successful surgical specialist in Evergreen and Parker, CO, where he positively impacted the lives of many patients.

Dan married Missy Brothers in 2001. They were married for 16 years and had two children, Ryan and Kelly Sdrulla.

Dan had a tremendous love for the outdoors and was an avid fly fisherman, rifle, and bow hunter. Later in life, he became a prolific poet and painter. He was a true genius with unmatched life energy, curiosity, and passion.

Dan leaves behind his children (Ryan and Kelly), parents (Dumitru and Violeta), brother (Andrei), sister-in-law (Rachel), many nephews and nieces, and many grateful patients.
