Dan Alan Opfer, 59, passed away July 27th, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. He was a life-long resident of LaGrange, Ohio and he will rejoin his best friends Frank, Rich, and Chris in Eternal rest.
Dan was born Thursday August 17, 1961 to Glenn and JoAnn Opfer of LaGrange, Ohio.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife exploring the country.
He was a 6 year veteran of the U.S. Navy where he was stationed out of Norfolk, VA and sailed on two destroyers, USS Farragut and USS King. He followed his father into the fire service and served 19 years on the LaGrange Township Fire Dept. Where he worked up the ranks as Lieutenant and Captain and both his sons followed in his footsteps.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Twila Opfer (Gibbens), His two sons Justin of Lorain, Ohio and Nathan of Shreve, Ohio and two grandchildren which he adored greatly, Hunter and Cheyenne. He also survived by his parents Glenn and JoAnn Opfer of LaGrange, Ohio. His sister Debbie (Jim) Roberts, their children Heather, Holly and James all of Stewartstown, PA. Also several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents Harold and Clara Opfer and aunt Janet Opfer all of LaGrange,Ohio.
