Dallas James Norris, 74, of Springfield and formerly of Virginia died Wednesday, February, 24, 2010 at Capitol Care Center in Springfield.
He was born June 3, 1935 in Virginia, IL; the son of James Douglas and Beatrice Stewart Norris. He married Margaret L. McGinnis in 1977 and she preceded him in death on October 1, 1987.
He is survived by five brothers, John Norris (wife, Judie) of Decatur, Wilbert Norris (wife, Elsie) of Auburn, Douglas Norris (wife, Marjorie) of Moore, SC, Stephen Norris (wife, Kathy) of Springfield, and Timothy Norris of Springfield; three sisters, Clara Burch (husband, Harry) of Lewistown, Nita Saviste of Chatham, and Kathy Norris of Springfield; two uncles, Arthur Stewart of San Antonio, TX and Carl Stewart of Vero Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Norris; and a sister, Marilyn Callahan.
Mr. Norris was a 1953 graduate of Virginia High School and a 1957 graduate of Western Illinois State College, and later attended Oregon State College. He taught mathematics at Heyworth High School and Virginia High School for several years. Dallas enjoyed playing chess, checkers, origami, card playing, and reading. He was of the Catholic faith.
