Dallas Michael “Mike” Jackson, 71, of Bloomington, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Mike was born February 28, 1943, in Monroe County and was the son of the late William Paul and Leila Ruth (Headdy) Jackson. Mike attended Hunter Elementary School and was a member of the Class of 1961 from Bloomington High School. After high school, he served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Charles H. Roan Destroyer during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion.
Mike retired from Indiana University after 35 years where he worked in the IU Freshman Chemistry Lab. Mike loved to participate in Civil War Re-Enactments and served with the 7th Artillery Regiment for Indiana. Mike is survived by his daughter Michelle Jackson, her son Seth Jackson-Branam, sister Shelby Kiser and sister-in-law Bea Wampler all of Bloomington, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; T.D. Headdy, Emma (Summitt) Headdy, Edward T. and Stella Jackson, wife; Wanda (Quillen) Jackson, brothers, Ira Winfred Wampler and Clifford Wampler and sister-in-law Lola Wampler.
