On July 28, 2021 Wilbert “Dale” Wills passed away after courageously  battling heart disease and other ailments for several years. Dale was a devoted and loved husband, father, grandfather and friend to all that met him. He was also a very proud “Texan” who always carried a special place in his heart for his home state.

Dale was born on January 1, 1951in Carthage, Texas to Wilbert Wills and Elva Joy though he was raised by his doting grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest and Velma Litton. In 1969, at the age of 18, Dale volunteered for the United States Army and from November 9, 1969 to January 8, 1972 he served in Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. Dale was made a crew chief on an Army Medic unit known as “DUSTOFF” that flew several missions to evacuate and save wounded soldiers in Vietnam.

In March of 1972 Dale was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland when he met Carolyn “Kay” Wills, the woman who would become the love of his life. Dale and Kay married in June of 1972 and they would go on to have three children (Christopher, Eric and Stephanie) and six grandchildren (Allyson, Riley, Jude, Caitlyn, Jackson and Olivia).

Dale was known as a kind and humble man who would go out of his way to help and care for anyone in need. He also never met a stranger as everyone he came into contact with quickly became a new friend he could share his stories with. He is loved and missed by all of his family who will never forget the kindness and love he showed us all. Dale loved to ride his motorcycle with other military veterans, play golf and watch cooking shows. One of his favorite days was Thanksgiving when he could eat turkey, enjoy his family and friends and watch his beloved Dallas Cowboys play.
