Dale W. Stabenow, 88, of Freeport, died Thursday, November 13, 2014, at his home. Born December 18, 1925 in Waddams Township he was the son of Lewis and Martha (Parks) Stabenow.
He married Mary Kurth July 1, 1944 in Durham North Carolina. He was a self-employed carpenter in Freeport for most of his life. Dale was a WWII Army veteran having served in the South Pacific. His memberships included Embury United Methodist Church, VFW, and was a former member of the Germania Club. Dale was City of Freeport Alderman for 12 years, drove the van to the VA Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin for the Veteran’s Administration, and was a volunteer for meals on wheels. Dale was a life time member of the Masonic and life time Pretzel Booster following his children, grandchildren and great grandchild in sports and music. He worked in the Freeport Pretzel Football press box volunteering over 20 years running the score board.
Surviving is his wife, Mary; his children, Pamela (David) Fellenzer and Debra Weckerly all of Freeport; seven grandchildren, Melissa (Craig) Geiser of Freeport, Derek (Shannon) Fellenzer of Dubuque, Iowa, Miles Mayberry of Seattle, Washington, Marshall Day of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Davis Day and Maggie (David) Hovey both of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Rachel Day of Portland, Oregon; ten great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
