Dale Mason Leach, age 94, of Salem, died at 12:58 a.m. Wednesday, March 02, 2016, at the Salem Regional Medical Center in Salem. He was born October 18, 1921 in Salem, Ohio, the son of the late Roy and Mary (Beck) Leach.
He worked at the Electric Furnace for 43 years and was a member of the V.F. W, Disabled American Veterans, A.R.R. L., Salem Area Amateur Association Radio, and First Christian Church of Salem where he was an Elder, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher. Dale enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army during WWII and served in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater (EAME), and was part of the invasion on D-Day June 6, 1944 at Omaha Beach in Normandy France, and was Grand Marshall of the Memorial Day Parade in 2012.
Survivors include two sons, Rodney Leach of Salem, and Jeffrey (Liz) Leach of Chippewa Township Beaver Falls, PA; a sister-in-law, Ruth May of Salem; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
His wife, Betty Jane (May) Leach whom he married January 16, 1943, preceded him in death June 20, 1995. Four brothers, Rolland, Charles, Jay, and Gail; and one sister, Dorothy Andre also preceded him in death.
