Miss Dale Leslie French, 62, of Linton, Indiana, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008, at her residence. Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on September 13, 1945, she was the daughter of Leslie Dale and Elizabeth Jane (Kivell) French Wheat. Dale’s biological father was killed in the war and she was raised by her mother and adoptive father, Bertham Wheat.

Dale received her high school diploma from Honey Creek High School in 1963. She continued her education at Indiana State University, graduating in 1967, and student teaching in New Albany High School the same year. She began teaching at Linton-Stockton High School in 1968, as the Art Teacher, and remained at the helm of the Art Department for 39 years. Dale assumed the role of Art Director for the school musical productions as well as the school historian until her retirement in 2007.

Survivors include an aunt and uncle, JoAnn (Robert) King of Battle Creek, MI, aunt and uncle, Bob and Mary French, cousins, Jane King, Bill French, and Daniel French all of MI, and Jim French of Wyoming.

Dale was preceded in death by her parents, adoptive father, Bertham Wheat, and an uncle, Robert French.
