Dale Gene Swenson 88, passed away peacefully holding Karen’s hand on Sunday May 19, 2019. He was born in Ogden, on October 4, 1930 to Donald Eugene Swenson and Juanita Webster Swenson. He graduated from Ogden High School, attended Weber College, and graduated from Brigham Young University. Dale met Karen at BYU and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple June 11, 1957.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dale served in many positions but is remembered with admiration for his ability to teach the gospel. He served a cherished three-year mission to Japan. Upon his release, he was drafted into the United States Army. During the Cold War, Dale served in counter intelligence with the Allied Occupation Forces in Vienna, Austria.

His career included work with the Union Pacific Railroad, Utah State Industrial School as a counselor, Thiokol Chemical in administrative services, and McKay-Dee Hospital where he retired as director of staff development.

Dale had a great love of nature. His interests included fly fishing, traveling with friends and family, and spending time at the family cabin at Bear Lake. He was a terrific dad, grandpa, and husband and was blessed with many life-long friends.

Dale is survived by his wife Karen Swenson, brother Gary (Mary Rae) Swenson, children Michael Swenson, Jill Swenson, Lisa (Rich) Hunter, Lori (Benny) Sorensen, Mitchell Swenson, Kent (Jody) Swenson, twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gwen Clark.
