Dale Eugene Bursott was born on January 28, 1940, to Bernard “Red” and Mary Anna Bursott. He was the second oldest of 7 children. He married his high school sweetheart and soul mate, Donna Kimberlin, on January 28, 1961-his 21st birthday. On Friday, August 19, surrounded by his wife and children, Dale joined his siblings in heaven.
Dale worked for his parents at Bursott’s Bakery until its closing in 1964. He then became a milkman for Schierer’s Dairy. Finally, he worked for Caterpillar, where he retired in 1999.
Dale was a volunteer fireman for the Metamora Fire Department, a member of the Metamora Village Board, Metamora Police Commissioner, and the Metamora Jaycee’s, and helped start the Duck’s Unlimited Chapter in Metamora.
Dale was a lector and eucharistic minister at St. Mary’s in Metamora. He also taught CCD. He and Donna lead nearly 20 Marriage Encounter teams.
Dale loved duck hunting, goose hunting, fishing, and wiener roasts. He loved having a beer with his kids and helping Donna babysit the great-grandkids.
Donna and Dale have three children. Jill (George) Wakefield of Peoria, Eric (Becky) Bursott of Metamora, and Deanna (Dave) Schick of Metamora. They have nine grandchildren. Josh (Lisa) Sanders of Morton, Mark Viggers of Metamora, Dan (Madeline) Viggers of St. Louis, MO; Mallory (Matt) Williams of Peoria, Cinthia (Cody) Wabel of Metamora, Paige (Ryan) Roehm of Peoria, Brian (Jen) Bursott of Washington, Brock (Rachel) Bursott of Groveland and Chris (Tracy) Wakefield of Gainesville, GA. They have 15 great-grandchildren! Dale was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and three infant children.
