On Friday, February 26, 2010, Daisy E, 98, of Newark, born in Mecklenburg, VA, wife of the late William J., devoted mother of Daisy “Irene” Hayes and the late William C., loving sister of Bessie Austin, the late Olivia Pearson and the late Anna Smith; mother-in-law of Barbara Jeffries; dear grandmother of Carleton Hayes, William “Kevin” Jeffries, Debra Jeffries-Goode and Allyson Whitten O’Bryant. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Jeffries was a resident of Newark for over 80 years. A devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church, for 79 years, she was the oldest member of the congregation. She served as a deaconess.
