D. Yvonne Coe, 88, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021, in Des Moines, IA. Yvonne was born December 18, 1932, in Oak Park, IL, to O. Lee and Mabel (Murrow) Brady. She married Gerald Coe on September 3, 1948, in Osceola, IA. Together they enjoyed 51 years of marriage.
Yvonne worked in Food Service for the Des Moines Schools, retiring in 1997. Before her work with the Des Moines Schools, Yvonne ran her own daycare for many years.
She was a member of Dean Avenue Church of Christ and an active member for many years. Yvonne enjoyed doing word searches, coloring, and reading. She also crocheted blankets for her family and friends. In her retirement, she loved to travel, going to Europe and Hawaii as well as many places. Yvonne’s greatest joy was her family and was a mother and grandmother to all.
Yvonne is survived by her son, Wayne (Kathy) Coe of Pleasant Hill, IA; daughters, Judith (Michael) Chamberlain of Des Moines, IA, Rhonda (Butch) Summers of Bagley, IA, Mary (Matt) Dobberke of Des Moines, IA; sisters, Virginia Shannon of Pleasant Hill, IA, Colene Lawnsdale of Galesburg, IL; as well as many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald W Coe; son, Gary Coe; great granddaughter, Aleena Coe; sister, Marilyn Helmick; brother, Gerald Brady.
