D. Marie Damrell Benjamin, Indianapolis passed away April 20, 2013. She was born July 8, 1921 in Indianapolis to the late John and Florence Spaulding Searcy. Marie married Edward Damrell Jr. on August 14, 1943 in New Bern, NC and he preceded her in death on February 17, 1971. She then married John C. Benjamin on September 2, 1978 in Indianapolis and he preceded her in death August 15, 2004. She was employed over 30 years at Bank One retiring in 1983 as a supervisor. Her survivors are daughter Joan (Lee) Asay of Indianapolis; daughter-in-law Carol Damrell of Indianapolis; step sons David M. (Donna) Benjamin of Greenwood, Daniel L. Benjamin of Danville and John C. (Barbara) Benjamin of Indianapolis; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by son Edward L. Damrell III, grandson Edward L. Damrell IV; brothers John and Lawrence “Bud” Searcy and sister Emma Fogle; step daughters Patricia Ann Graves and Phyllis Dunton.
