D. O. Coonie: Coyle passed away on Friday, May 14, 2010, at 5 p.m. as he reminded us daily, time to go home, todays work is done at Lea Regional Hospital in Hobbs. He was surrounded by his family and so many treasured friends during his final days on earth. Many people shared their wonderful memories that they had with Coonie. Hunting stories, stories of special family times spent together fond memories of friends. Coonie would have enjoyed all of these stories, because he was quite the storyteller himself. He loved to share his many life experiences with everyone did so at the drop of a hat. He had an incredible recall of things that happeneed during his lifetime. Coonie had a long 81 years life that was filled with joy, laughter, and yes, sadness, bur during all of these, he touched so many lives. He was so well thought of by such a variety of people. We will all have a void in our lives with his passing, but we will have these memories in our hearts and minds that will bring comfort in the days to come.

Coonie was born in Springhill, Louisiana, August 20, 1928. His parents were D. H. and Nanny Coyle. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, his companion and best friend, Kathryn, Tootie Coyle, his daughter Patty and soninlaw Gene Rucker, two grandchildren David Shawn Rucker and Kaci Dawn Oldham, her new husband Matlock two greatgrandchildren, Riley Rucker Jarrett and Kathryn Katy Easter, all of Hobbs. The grandchildren and greatgrandchildren brought Coonie such joy.
