Cynthia Hymes Camp of Highlands Ranch, CO October 27, 1940-September 17, 2017 Cynthia Hymes Camp passed away peacefully on Sunday September 17th, 2017 in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, after a long fight with brain cancer. She was born on October 27th, 1940 in Miami to Grace and Rayford Hymes, Sr. She graduated from Coral Gables High School, where she was homecoming queen, and attended the University of Kentucky where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Cynthia transferred to the University of Florida and graduated with a BA degree in Education. She spent two years working for the DoD as a teacher for US military dependents in Wiesbaden, Germany. While there she learned to parachute with a member of the US Army Golden Knights parachute team, and she logged several jumps to her credit. Cynthia then returned to Miami and became a teacher in the Miami-Dade County school system where she made a positive impact on countless children for 30+ years. Cynthia then transitioned to a long and successful second career in real estate with Coldwell Banker. During the summers she thrilled her niece and youngest nephew with weeks-long road trips to the desert southwest, Washington, DC and New England. Cynthia was passionate about traveling and she enjoyed trips to Europe, Israel, Africa and Australia. In 2005, she moved to Denver, CO and married Robert E. Camp. She continued her travels with him until she became ill. Cynthia is survived by her husband, Bob; sister Cheryl Haun; brother Rayford Hymes, Jr, (Rosemary); nieces, Jocelyn Farrell, Mary Wilburn; nephews, Michael Hymes, David Hymes, John Joyce. Her family is grateful for the kind and caring work that ComForCare and Hospice provided for Cynthia during the final phase of her life.
