Many prayers were answered (Including her own) as our precious Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt and Friend joined her very anxiously awaiting and welcoming angels on Friday October 7, 2022. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family in a room filled with SO much love and tenderness. It will be impossible to put into few words the beautiful life of Cynthia.

Cynthia Dona Grob Naylor was born on September 14, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Margaret and Charles Grob. She was the oldest of 4 children; she adored her parents, brother and sisters very much. She would always tease that she gave her parents a run for their money from the time she could walk; even though she kept them on their toes at times they sure loved and adored their Cynthia always and she most definitely had her Daddy wrapped around her finger! She especially had a very special bond with her baby sister Melanie… they were two peas in a pod.

On April 17, 1952, she married her forever love Gerald C. Naylor in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, for time and all eternity. They shared a most special and admirable love story, and we have no doubt their reunion was as magical and special as they come. They met in the little town of East Mill Creek where they quickly fell in love. After their wedding they moved to San Diego where Jerry served in the Navy. While he was serving, she returned to Salt Lake so her parents could help her when she gave birth to their beautiful first-born Debbie Jo.

Cynthia was a true gem in every sense of the word. She was an earth angel, and it was a running joke that if it wasn’t for her addiction to peanut M & M’s she would have been exalted straight to heaven because she was just too good for this world. She always humbly disagreed. While family was so very important to Cynthia, she had no greater love than that of which she had for her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. She was a faithful and devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many callings in the church that she held near and dear to her heart, she served in the young women’s, relief society, and primary. She was an incredible gospel doctrine teacher where she loved learning just much as she loved teaching. She served in the temple as an ordinance worker and as an assistant to the brides as they prepared for their ceremony, such a special thing for her. Cynthia and Jerry served a full time LDS mission in the Washington DC Temple Visitors Center where they came to love each and every person they came in contact with. They loved every second of their mission! Cynthia had an unwavering faith in knowing she was a precious daughter of God, and he has a plan for each of us. When it was time for bed, she would have to tell her knees to get ready as she would spend hours praying for literally everyone and everything… and then another few hours of time spent in gratitude for all she was blessed with. She loved knowing in her heart of hearts she can be with her family forever and that brought her so much peace.

Cynthia had such a unique and special love for the youth. It’s been said many times how she had a way about her that made every young man and young woman feel so very loved – no matter what. She never judged, she never made you feel less than anything amazing and you always left her feeling like you have been hugged by the sun itself. She had a way of lending a listening ear and offering kind and loving words of wisdom that made you want to be better than you were yesterday. She always had a way of taking you under her wing; she was a second mother to so many! She spent countless hours putting together road shows where the kids loved singing, dancing and acting. Musicals were such a joy to her heart! Whenever she would hear a song she loved you were sure to hear the words “ohhhhh goody” come out of her mouth. Above all else Cynthia found her greatest joy in serving others. There wasn’t a day that went by where she wasn’t doing good deeds all around town in one way or another. She truly had a halo above her all the time! What a beautiful example and woman she was to everyone.

Cynthia also loved creating, she loved all things beautiful.

The family would love to extend a very special thank you to Sesiu…Grandmas very special care giver. Sesiu, you are family now and we are so grateful for the love and care you gave to her and Jerry in these last few years.

She is also survived by 20 Grandchildren, 30 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren, her beloved sister Melanie Mark and dear Brother Dennis (Vicki) Grob, Jim Morgan (brother in law) … as well as many, many other family, friends and loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her sweetheart Jerry Naylor, her daughter Debbie Jo, her parents Charlie and Margaret Grob, her in laws; William T and Twila Naylor, her sister Miriam, her 2 brothers-in-law Billy and Kenneth, her grandsons McKell, Justin, Derek and Garrett, a nephew Dallas and many dear friends.

Our most precious Cynthia, you will be missed beyond measure. The void of your sunshine will be great…but we are so very happy that you are finally free from the struggles of Alzheimer’s. We take so much joy and gratitude in knowing you can talk, run, sing, dance, love, laugh and above all continue to be the angel your sweet spirit has always longed to be. You can hang up your old rubber gloves and put away your eyebrow pencil now and live in your well-deserved perfect body and spirit. In the famous words of Winnie the Pooh… “how lucky are we to have loved someone that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
