Cynthia D McCarty – February 6, 1937 to May 23, 2023
Our beloved mother, grandmother and great great grandmother Cynthia D McCarty passed away on May 23rd at Lakeland Health Center, New Jersey.
Cynthia D McCarty was born to Lilian Savage and Cecil McCarty in Cold Spring, St. Andrew on the island of Jamaica in the West Indies.
Cynthia was married briefly to Vertel S Rose from November 17th, 1980 until their divorce in July 1983. Cynthia was a peaceful and loyal lady, full of integrity. At this stage in her life she chose truth over deceit to live her life in peace.
Cynthia was known for her tenacity. When she made up her mind to do something, it would get done. She was very kind and helpful to all her friends. Cynthia had great friends who stood with her through thick and thin. Even when offered to stay with her granddaughter in Canada, Cynthia refused – she didn’t want to leave her friends, Hackensack and her church community in New Jersey.
Cynthia is predeceased by her sisters Delcita Wellington and Zetilda McCarty and survived by her brother, Lambert Wellington, her children, Andrea Pusey Martin, Elma Clarke and Michael Phillips. Her grandchildren, Carene Ennis-Spence, Christopher Martin, Andrew Martin, Oneasha Martin, Staciann Marsh and Zaccheus Jones. Cynthia is also survived by her great grandchildren, J’Vaughn Smith, Jada-Kristin Spence, William Spence, Kierston Martin, Christina Martin, Christopher Jr Martin, Kaitlyn Martin and many nieces.
Cynthia left us on May 23rd, but she will always be in our hearts. We will miss her dearly.
