Cyle John Van Komen, born January 27, 1992, left us unexpectedly December 9, 2016.

He was a free spirit with a fierce loyalty to family and friends. His gift of making one and all feel like he was their brother uplifted many downtrodden hearts. Everybody thought he or she was Cyle’s favorite. He made all of those he called friends part of “his family.” Cyle was dedicated to watching over “his family” whomever they were.

Serving and helping others was not a choice, it was his way of life. Cyle tried to get on your level whether you were 3, 13, 33, or 103. When he said “I hear ya’,” you knew he meant it.

Cyle took every opportunity to embrace the outdoors in his fishing, canoeing, snowboarding, rock climbing, wakeboarding and camping escapades.

His passion was hockey, both watching and playing, and he wanted his “bro’s” with him for all of it.

Whether it was dancing in Times Square with his sister Chloe or racing from one end of the hockey rink to the other with his ‘brothers’, he did it with enthusiasm.

He attended Syracuse High School and worked in Construction. He leaves behind his parents, Ranae and Brad Finch; Jerry John (JJ) and Karly Van Komen. Seven brothers and sisters, Brock Van Komen, Ashley (Robbie) Gledhill, Taylohr Ungricht, Bryson Kennelly, Preston Kennelly, Chloe Finch, and Paisley Van Komen. Grandparents, Robert and Janie Van Komen, Gary and Nancy Mecham, David and Sally Finch, Kelly and Shelly Nattress, Mary Tincher; and a myriad of beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, stories, photos, generosities, and memories of Cyle. Thanks to the amazing family and friends who rejoice with us in the incredible life of Cyle John Van Komen. We will miss your infectious laugh and your wrap-around, lift-you-up, squeeze-you-tight bear hugs.
