Curtis Eugene McMorris, 90, of Madison AL, formerly of Moberly MO, passed away peacefully on June 3rd, 2020, in the company of his loving children.

Curtis was born on May 22, 1930, in Madison, MO to Fred and Bea (Haley) McMorris and attended school in Madison. While in his service in the Navy during the Korean War, he married Roberta Evelyn Rogers on April 18, 1954. Upon return to Moberly, MO after his tour of duty, he was employed by the Wabash Railroad and continued working there until his retirement from Norfolk and Southern. Throughout his many years living in Moberly, he was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Methodist Church. Curtis was able to be a part of and greatly enjoyed his honor flight trip to Washington, DC before his passing.

Survivors include his wife Roberta, daughter Marisa (Kay) Helfert, and her husband Joe all of Madison AL; son Richard McMorris and his wife Velda of Kearney MO; and sister, Wilma Ashworth of Moberly MO. He was a loving PaPa to five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Perry McMorris, and sister Shirley Herron.

Curtis was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and was always one step ahead of any of their managers or coaches and willing to let you know about it. He was never at a loss for a story, and never afraid to share them with anyone. He and Roberta enjoyed several years of square dancing all over the United States, as well as in Germany. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed sharing his time catching the big ones with his grandchildren. Curtis enjoyed playing pool at the Senior Centers in Columbia MO and Madison AL. He was an active member for over 50 years of the Masonic Lodge.
