Curtis Lee Sanders, 87, of Hamilton, formerly of Ottawa, passed away April 11, 2013 at Birchwood Care Center.

Curtis was born on April 2, 1926 in Lochapoka, AL to John and Nettie (Aldrich) Sanders. He married Barbara Johnson on July 31, 1982 in Ottawa. Curtis was employed at Crouse Hinds for 30 years, and also worked 10 years at the Syracuse Foundry. Curtis was a hard worker, enjoyed hunting and was a deacon in the Baptist church. He was a member of the Freemasons, and was a kind person, willing to help anyone in their time of need. Curtis was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; 6 daughters, Barbra Boatwright, Jeanette Sanders, Priscilla Sanders, Sandra (Randy) Hudson, Abigail (Dwayne) Boyd and Desiree Sanders; step daughters, Deborah Jones, Rhonda Warner, Adrena Phillips, Kim Johnson and Lashawn (Elliot) Hill; a step son, Ralph (Barbara) Johnson; brother, Howard (Fannie) Sanders; 6 sisters’ Bernice (Ernest) Wynn, Rebennie (Major) Wilson Johnie Mae (Jenkins) Yancy, Emma Crowder, Leona (Henry) Collins and Doris Wagner and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Christopher Sanders, a daughter, Brendalon Day 2 brothers’ Cleveland and Sylvester Sanders, 3 sisters, Rose Dowdell, Mae Stell McCurty and Annie Ruth Bradford and the mother of his children, Elease Sanders.
