Curt Kriksciun, age 61 of Boulder, CO passed away on Oct. 5, 2011 after a courageous four month battle with gastric cancer. Born October 15, 1949 in Dallas, Texas, to Sigmund and Carol Kriksciun, Curt grew up in Milford, Connecticut where he graduated from Milford High School in 1967. He attended the University of Connecticut and received a BA in English Literature from the University of New Haven. Curt moved to Boulder in 1973 to attend graduate school at CU in English. He began law school at the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1980 and received his law degree in 1983. Upon graduation, Curt clerked at the Colorado Supreme Court and then worked at the Attorney General’s office. His law career continued in private practice, Pinnacol Assurance, and for the past 8 years he was an Administrative Law Judge in the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. He was active in the Workers’ Compensation community and spoke at many conferences for the Colorado Defense Lawyers and the Colorado Bar Association and published articles for the Colorado Lawyer. He also donated his time at the DU Law School and was a member of the Colorado Supreme Court’s Gender Bias Task Force.
Curt was a loving husband and father, and he had a passion for the arts. He was a member of the Boulder Art Association and painted with pastels.
Curt is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jennifer Shopland; his daughter, Erika Kriksciun of Boulder, CO; his father, Sigmund Kriksciun; his brother, Peter Kriksciun(Nadia Kriksciun) all of Milford; his sisters, Cindi Kriksciun of Monroe, Kathleen Kamenitsky of Wallingford, Mary Kriksciun (Michael Kember) and Noreen Palmer of Milford,and Colleen Corcoran (Kevin Corcoran) of West Haven. He is preceded in death by his mother, Carol Kriksciun.
