CSM (Ret.) Jimmy A. Davis, 79, of Morgans Point passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Seton Medical Center in Harker Heights.

Jimmy was born on January 7, 1939 in Post, Texas to Martin and Alabama (Floyd) Davis. He grew up in Post and graduated from Post High School. Mr. Davis joined the Army at 18 years old and served honorably for almost 24 years, retiring as a Command Sargent Major in 1980.

During his time in the military, he was deployed to Vietnam where he received numerous awards, including the Bronze Star Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster. After retirement, Mr. Davis began a career with the US Army Corps of Engineers at Ft. Hood, Texas, again retiring in 1997. Jimmy was an avid bowler, runner, and was a member of the Retired Sargent’s Major Association. He married Gretel Wurthele on August 27, 1959 in Esslingen, Germany.

Jimmy was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife Gretel of Morgans Point, son Thomas Davis and his wife Traci of Morgans Point, brothers Floyd Davis of Denton, Tx. and George Davis of Alamogordo, NM., sister Ruth Howell of Alamogordo, NM. , and two grandchildren, Alexandra Davis and Ariel Davis.
