PINKSTER, Corrie A. Mulder went home to be with her Lord on Monday, March 16, 2015. She was born Corrie Ann Smit on May 7, 1934, in Heerhugowaard, Netherlands the daughter of John and Agnes Weiring Smit, and immigrated to Kalamazoo, Michigan with her family in 1951. Shortly after, she met and fell in love with Melvin Mulder, another Dutch immigrant, and was married to him for 37 and a half years, until Melvin passed away in January 1993. Church life played an important role throughout her life. She had a fulfilling and intimate relationship with God.

She survived many hardships and always looked up to the Lord for guidance and strength. Her devotion to the Second Christian Reformed Church was most noted as she sang in “Handles Messiah” for many years and started a grief support group for recent widows after Melvin passed. It was through her activities with the church that she met Harold Pinkster and again, was united in marriage to him on March 20, 1999. She was sweet, kind, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a gracious woman and naturally, a great friend. She loved her kids dearly and invested her entire life in her children while keeping a well-organized household in typical Dutch fashion. Home-cooked family meals were enjoyed by the family every single night! Family and friends were all important to Corrie. She loved to travel and visit everyone. Her “Koffee Klatch” group, which, met for more than 40 years, was a mere example of her love for socializing. She enjoyed knitting, and gardening and was very talented at the art of baking. Her famous treats like Banket, Olibollen, Grandmas Cookies, and Oma’s Soup were treasured family recipes that will continue to be a holiday tradition for many years to come.

Corrie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Wiering Smit, and sister, Ann Havenaar Smit, husband, Melvin Mulder, and son, Timothy Mulder. She is survived by her husband Harold Pinkster, her two children, Duane Anne Mulder Fayetteville, AR, and Donna Mulder; her siblings, Jake Jo Ann Smit, Ellie Roger Lowry; 9 grandchildren, Rick, Tyler, Tom, Elijah, Scott, Ethan, Julia, Collin, and Trevor; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
