Cornelius G. Brackman, age 84, of DeMotte passed away at Franciscan Hospital of Crown Point on Sunday, January 7, 2018. He was born December 6, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Cornelius G. Sr and Ethel (Leon) Brackman. Whitey attended Bloom High School, Class of 1952 and was a graduate of Valparaiso University with a Bachelor of Psychology.
He married the love of his life, Patricia (Kapaldo) on June 25, 1978 in Country Club Hills, IL. Whitey was an auto mechanic and owner/operator of Brackman & Co. Auto Repair. He taught auto electronics I & II at Prairie State College, Chicago Heights, Il for 20 years. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War era. Whitey was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of DeMotte, IN. He enjoyed spending time with family, being an outdoorsman, and was a history buff.
Whitey is survived by his wife: Patricia Brackman of DeMotte, IN; children: Kelly (Mark Esarove) Brackman of Homewood, IL; Cornelius “Corey” Brackman IV of New Lenox, IL; Buffy (Michel) Rasmussen of Tinley Park, IL; Christopher Brackman of DeMotte, IN; 6 grandchildren: Jennifer, John, Ethan, Kelsey, Amelia, and Gavin; siblings: Patricia Richardson of Vero Beach, FL; Barbara Behling of Vero Beach, FL; many nieces & nephews. Whitey was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Ethel, brother, Eugene Brackman, and sister, Ethel Gust.
