Cornelia Clare Janeway Saltsman was born on Staten Island, NY on September 21, 1918 to Theodore and Clare Van Clief Janeway. She was presented to society as a debutant in 1939. She graduated from Westover School in 1937. After graduating from Katie Gibbs Secretarial School, she was working as a secretary in NYC. While on vacation, after the end of WWII, she met Colonel Major Ralph H. Saltsman, Jr. on the beach in Atlantic City. They were married shortly thereafter on August 1, 1945.

As an Air Force wife, mother and homemaker, she accompanied Ralph with her young growing family all over the United States and the Phillipines, In 1960 Ralph retired from the Air Force and moved to Columbine Country Club in Littleton, Colorado, living their dream on the 15th hole.

Cornelia (aka C’nee or Needus) was a loving mother, an avid reader, artist in oils and acrylic and loved going to luncheons with her girlfriends. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She took care of many pets, including and not limited to dogs, cats, and birds, and swerved for butteryflies. Her love for her family was foremost.

She spent the last six years at Sunrise at Pinehurst where she died on January 15, 2012.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ralph Henry Saltsman of Littleton, CO; children, Barbara Carroll Srader of Los Lunas, NM, Stephen Bonham Saltsman of Durango, CO, Chris Lee Saltsman of Littleton, and Anne Cornelia Finney of Durango, CO; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was a gentle and generous lady and will be deeply loved and missed.
