Cordell Burris Jr.,60 of Cambridge, Md,( also known as Jr., Sexy, & Supernova219) unexpectedly entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Md. Cordell was born to the late Cordell Burris Sr., and the late Dorothy E. Jones on January 01, 1961 in Dorchester County. Cordell received his education from Dorchester County Public School System. After graduation, Cordell served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He later received an honorable discharge from the military and returned home to work in the food service industry. He had several jobs, including Roy Rogers, Taco Bell, Hardee’s, 7-Eleven, and U-5 Foods.
Cordell accepted Christ into his life at an early age and attended numerous churches until his health started failing. He continued to worship Christ at home. Cordell had a love for music, food & fine dining and plays. Traveling and tractor trailers were also some of his interests. He loved to try new things that were within his capabilities. The Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Orioles were his two favorite sports teams. Whether they were winning or losing, he remained loyal. One hobby that he enjoyed was photography.
Cordell was a unique individual, who could make friends with anyone. He may have been stubborn but he had a heart of gold. He would give you the shirt off of his back. Cordell’s daughter was the light of his life. She could do no wrong in his eyes. Once Cordell took the oath to become a father figure to her, he fulfilled it to the fullest.
Cordell is survived by his daughter/goddaughter, Carol Thompson (Columbia, Md) whom he called “Honeybaby”, god granddaughter, Ke’Mari Banks whom he called “Honeychild”. two sisters; Betty A. Pearson and Donna M. Burris, one brother, Gerald E. Simmons (Chico), one nephew, Floyd Jones, three nieces; Michelle Jones, Tiffany S. Fletcher, and Miyhana F. Seeney. ex-wife, Mary Gardener and her two children; Sherri and Paris Cooper, and a host of other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Cordell was preceded in death by his aunts Reeva White and Barbara Allen, uncles, Glenn M. White and John Larson, niece Wandelle McShay Fletcher, three good friends, Mildred Chester, and Apostle Darryle Riley, and George Collins.
