Cora Lee Wilson, 68 of Moberly, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 5, 2016 at her home. She was born November 20, 1947 in Moberly to Loyd J. and Gladys (Goslin) Powell. Cora was a medical transcriptionist and has worked in the medical field all of her life.
Cora married James “Jim” Wilson on March 28, 1981 in Moberly and he survives of the home. Also surviving are her children, John Loyd Weant of Moberly and Amanda “Mandy” Mackey and her husband Greg of Columbia, six grandchildren, Nate Weant, Parker McCowan, Reese Mackey, Cooper Mackey, Ethan Mackey and Ashley Hanson; a sister Alice Hollenbeck and her husband Lennis of Springfield, IL, a brother Ed Powell and his wife Karen of Moberly, three aunts, nieces, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Loyda Faye Powell, several aunts and uncles, a niece Lee Anne Powell and a great niece Elizabeth Spear.
Words by Larissa Hollenbeck, niece of Cora’s: Heaven gained an amazing angel overnight. She could take ordinary objects, recycle them into awesome pieces. She was a fabulous seamstress, cook, tremendous caregiver, and an avid animal lover. Most importantly she was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, cousin and aunt.
Cora had a tremendously generous and caring heart. She would help anyone who seemed appreciative. Her deep admiration and compassion for all critters both big and small was like no other. Some of her favorite hobbies included digging in the dirt and teaching others about flowers and plants, crafting, Pinterest, and simply doing anything she could for others.
Cora “Mimi” left the following words written in her book, “Reese, Nate, Parker, Cooper, and Ethan – Hugs and love forever and ever. I’ll always be with them when they see a butterfly – it’s Mimi just looking out for them.
