Cora Ann (Corky) Verble

Cora Verble, A loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother left this earth and has been reunited with God. Corky passed at her daughter’s home in Grand Junction, CO where she had spent the last few weeks. They held each other’s hand as her spirit transcended to Heaven.
Cora leaves behind a large, loving family, a husband of nearly 60 years – Mike Verble. Four, wonderful children, and their spouses: Jeff and Christy Verble of Spokane, WA. Mickey and Joe Knowles of Colorado Springs, CO. David and Maria Verble of Montrose, CO. Laura and Bob Stogner of Grand Junction, CO. Twelve Grandchildren and their spouses: Ben and Nina Verble, Becky and Donovan O’Neel, Elizabeth Verble, Nathan Ridlen, Josh Ridlen, Natalie Cominello, Brianna Verble, Cierra and Cory House, Miranda Stogner, Brandon Stogner, Natasha Stogner, Melanie Stogner. Four Great-Grandchildren: Jack, Maggie, Porter and Bristol.
Corky was born in a sod house, 12 miles south of Goodland on the high-plains of Kansas to Rudy and Kate Kolacny. She attended 1st-12th grade in Goodland where her mother Kate taught for many years. She met her husband Mike in her sophomore year at Goodland High. After graduation, she attended Ft. Hayes State College in Kansas. Cora was an accomplished stenographer and statistical typist for the base commander at Otis Air Force Base in Falmouth, Massachusetts and worked for Ernest Public Accountants. Mike and Cora married after he completed basic training in the Air Force. In 1959, they moved to Colorado Springs and in 1967 to their current home in Manitou Springs.
Cora dedicated her time to raising the four children and supporting Mike in his numerous business ventures. Her love and passion included time with her family, reading, aerobics, nutrition, religious studies and ballroom dancing with Mike at the Broadmoor on Saturday Evenings. She was a member of the Broadmoor Golf Club for 30 years. Corky loved music (Tom O’Boyle) concerts, adored pets, wildlife, nature and collecting seashells on the beach.
