Constance E. Belfonti, 79, of North Haven, CT passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at the SmilowHospital at Yale with her family at her side. Connie was a strong and independent woman who loved her family deeply. She always encouraged people to follow their dreams and was a source of moral support and inspiration for many. She held strong convictions and was never afraid to speak out with good advice and counsel. Her home and her heart were always open to those she loved, and she will be truly missed. Born on August 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Lt. Michael P. Esposito (NHFD) and Sophia Sagnella Esposito. Connie worked over the course of 40 years in banking. She started as a teller, was promoted to branch manager, and then became a loan originator. She worked for several banks, including Tradesman’s Bank in New Haven, Orange National Bank in Orange, CBT in Hartford, and Bank of New England/Fleet Bank. She was named as the “Number One Mortgage Producer” in the state of Connecticut several times by CBT and Fleet. In 1990, together with her husband Richard and her son Michael, she founded MCR Property Management, Inc. Connie and her son Michael also began scholarship funds at two local Catholic High Schools (Notre Dame in West Haven and Sacred Heart in Hamden) in honor of Connie’s husband Richard and her sister Lucille. The funds from these scholarships provide educational stipends each year to worthy students who might not otherwise be able to attend these two private schools.
