Constance “Connie” Rae Berryman, 72, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully, October 7, 2018, at Tambree Meadows Assisted Living Center.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Grant Berryman and Opal McCollum Berryman, her brother and Viet Nam veteran, Jack Berryman, and aunts, Margie McCollum and Ocie McCollum Jordan, all of Mulberry, Arkansas.
Connie always considered Mulberry her hometown even though her father, who was in the oil business, moved the family around frequently. Besides Mulberry, she attended school in California, Huntington, Utah, and in Moab, Utah, where she met her husband, Herbert Reedy of Dove Creek, Colorado, at a local drive-in while she was working as a carhop. The couple married in Carson City, Nevada in 1963 and in 1964 and 1965 gave birth to her two sons. Mr. Reedy worked in civil engineering and the two of them spent the next twenty years moving around the west and raising their boys. Connie was often strict yet had a liberal attitude and rarely wavered. She very much enjoyed the holidays with her kids and going out as a family, occasionally having picnics on weekend drives in the mountains, fishing, hunting for morels or huckleberries or just meandering aimlessly on dirt roads until sundown.
Connie was known for her sense of humor, individuality and strong will. She loved country life, working in her garden, painting and drawing and doing beadwork, collecting antiques and learning about other cultures. She also had a keen interest in spirituality, philosophy and metaphysics and considered herself a naturalist. She did volunteer work for the V. A., and having compassion for animals, was unable to turn away any stray cat that would show up at her door. Her latest pastime was exploring and researching on the internet worldly knowledge and events.
Connie is survived by her two sons, Tracy Reedy of Hot Springs, Montana, and Michael “Tony” Reedy of Spring Creek, Nevada; her sister, Barbara Berryman Cupp of Rock River, Wyoming; uncles, Voyt, Olen and Henry McCollum of Mulberry; and aunt, Jewel McCollum Anderson, also of Mulberry, Arkansas.
