Conny C. Snyder, age 74 of Sanford, died Monday afternoon August 9, 2010 at Masonic Pathways in Alma. The son of the late Laurel and Gail (Hughes) Snyder was born on November 29, 1935 at his grandparent’s home on Redstone Rd, Porter Township in Midland County.
His twin brother Lonny died a short time after birth. Conny started school in Temple, Michigan, later attended the McNett Elementary School in Sanford. He then went to Coleman Schools in the 7th grade and graduated from Coleman High School in 1954. Conny attended Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant and then attended Northeastern School of Commerce in Bay City where he received a certificate in Business. In 1957 Conny became a Michigan State Police Officer.
He then was drafted into Military service in 1958 and served in the United States Army, assigned as a Spec 5 to General George Carver at Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Texas. After the war Conny returned to the Michigan State Police retiring in 1982 with the rank of Sergeant. He was an avid antique car buff and loved to ride motor cycles. Conny was a life member of the Free & Accepted Masons Lodge #41 of Romeo, Michigan.
Surviving are his children, Greg (Rhonda) Snyder and Denene (Timothy) Smith; grandchildren, Ashley Snyder, Samantha McCalla, Sara Smith, Blake and Brooke Snyder; best friend and companion, Lois Bovee of Coleman; close friends, John Dana and Pastor Dennis Curell.
